How Can I Tell If My Toilet Is A One-Piece Or Two-Piece Toilet?

I'm happy to hear that you are ready to take the next step. By using a Bidet, you will experience a cleaner and healthy feeling. As you can see in the photo below, there are two types of toilets: one-piece where the tank is part of the bowl and two-piece where the tank is separate from the bowl but attached with bolts. You can also download the printable PDF of this page, so you can have it with you when checking your toilet. Here is the link: Will a Bidet Fit my Toilet PDF

Will A Bidet Fit My One-Piece Or Two-Piece Toilet?

If you have a two-piece toilet, good news... the short answer is yes. It will fit most standard two-piece toilets. There are a few exceptions, so please check the measurements below to make sure the area around the boltholes holding the toilet seat is flat and level.

If you have a one-piece toilet, your options are more limited. For example, the one-piece toilet above could be a Kohler San Raphael Elongated Toilet or the Rialto Round Toilet (they look the same but one has a round seat and the other has a elongated seat). The Blooming Bidet will fit the San Raphael but not all of them. Please make sure you check the measurements regardless of what toilet you have and please call me if you have any concerns about your one-piece or two-piece toilet.

How Can I Tell If My Toilet Is Round Or Elongated?

Above are actual photos of an elongated toilet and a round toilet. You think it should be easy to tell the difference, but it isn't always easy. I sometimes have customers call me thinking that their "round" toilet is actually elongated and the best way to tell is always by measuring them.

If line C is 16.5 inches or 42cm, you have a round toilet, like the one on the right.

If line C is 18.5 inches or 47cm, your toilet is elongated, like the one on the left.

To determine line C you will need to measure from the center of the two boltholes to the outside front of the toilet bowl. If the measurement turns out to be about 17 ¾" or 45cm, your best fit would be an elongated Bidet. If the dimension is different for your toilet, you can always call me and I would be delighted to help you.

Line B should be 5.5 inches or 14cm, from the center of one bolthole to center of the other bolthole, but most Bidets Seats will accommodate up to 7.5 inches or 19cm.

For line A , that is the distance from the center of the boltholes to the tank. In most cases, you will need 3 inches or 7.6cm for a Round toilet and 2 inches or 5cm for an Elongated toilet for a Bidet Toilet Seat to fit. This area should be flat and not have any curvature or sloping up. Most two-piece toilets will have 3 to 4 inches or 7.6cm to 10cm.

If your dimension for line A is 1.5 inches or 3.8cm (cannot be less), line A and line C added together, should be at least 19.5 inches or 49.5cm for an Round toilet and 20.5 inches or 52cm for an Elongated toilet. The Coway BA13 Round is 19" and will fit smaller round toilets.

The overall length of most Bidets Toilet Seats from the very back to the front is 19.5 inches or 49.5cm for Round and 20.5 inches or 52cm for an Elongated.
